MARMARIS
A modern and cosmopolitan
city, Marmaris also retains traditional color and customs. It lays
on a large bay encircled by pine trees. Bazaars can be found here
offering a wide variety of merchandise. There is also a fishing village
that shelters yachts all year round, located in a beautiful port with
pines reaching down to the sea.
DATCA
Quiet and picturesque with unspoilt
natural beautiful beaches in secluded bays. The Datca Peninsula separates
the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas.
KNIDOS
Knidos is an ancient city containing remains of the Temple of Venus
and a Byzantine church. Green and peaceful it is a "must see" for lovers
of antiquity. The temple was built for Aphrodite. It was the center
of art and culture in the 4th century B.C.
BODRUM
Well known as "Alikarnassos" in ancient
times, Bodrum is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, as
well as many other remains of her long history. It is a mixture of
the old and new making for a very lively city. Sights: castles, towers,
mausoleum, archaeological finds.
ASIN BAY
Built on top of the ancient
city of Lasos, the bay remains tranquil with beautiful beaches. Sights:
Byzantine castle, archaeological finds.
DIDYMA
In ancient times, this was known as Apollo's city, with the ruins
of his Temple contrasting the modern life of the city.
KUSADASI
Ruins reveal that Kusadasi was
inhabited during the Hellenistic, Roman and Medieval periods. Today
it boasts a lively nightlife and shopping district to attract tourists.
Kusadasi is known for its turquoise sparkling waters, broad sandy
beaches, bright sun and a large marina with a capacity for 600 yachts.
The ancient Greek city of Ephesus is easily accessed from this port
city. This glorious ancient city dates back to 2000 B.C.. Sites: Castle,
Mosques, Turkish and Roman Baths, Aqueducts, and Dilek National Park.
SAMOS
Only one mile away from the Turkish coast, Samos is totally
green with marvelous landscaping, numerous vineyards and springs and
waterfalls cascading either to the mainland or bays with crystal waters.
Fishing villages and ancient monuments as well as the warm and friendly
inhabitants await the visitors. Sights: museums, Roman finds. Delicacies:
Local dishes and wines.
IKARIA
This is a mountainous yet fertile island
with pines, olive and fruit trees, breathtaking views, therapeutic
hot springs, inhabited by quiet, friendly people. There are fishing
villages, natural springs, and secluded bays with beautiful pebble
beaches. Ikaria is the home of the mythical Ikaros.
